Rabbit Semiconductor's RCM3400 RabbitCore Named EDN 2002 Innovation
of the Year Runner-Up
Davis, Calif., Rabbit Semiconductor's newest RabbitCore has been chosen
from hundreds of candidates as the runner-up in the EDN 2002 Innovation
of the Year awards competition. The Analog RCM3400 microprocessor core
module received this prestigious accomplishment among qualifying finalists
in the "Computers, Boards, and Buses" product/technology area.
The exclusive awards program, sponsored by EDN Worldwide magazine, is
dedicated to honoring outstanding engineering products in the electronics
industry. EDN's technical editors first selected finalists in 16 major
product/technology areas, and then winners in each category were chosen
by EDN's readers through an online ballot on the EDN Access web site (www.ednmag.com).
Products/technologies qualifying for a 2002 EDN Innovation award must
have been introduced and commercially marketed from January 1, 2002, through
December 31, 2002.
The RCM3400 simplifies the development of network-enabled embedded systems
at an extremely low recurring cost. Less than half the size of a credit
card, the RCM3400 includes the powerful Rabbit 3000® microprocessor,
up to 512K Flash/512K SRAM, 5 serial ports, 47 I/O, and an installed MAC
ID and 10/100Base-T Ethernet reference design. With the RCM3400, users
can control, monitor, and debug embedded systems across any network or
the Internet. A complete software development kit supports the RCM3400:
A royalty-free TCP/IP stack, prototyping board with 10/100Base-T RJ-45
jack, and the industry-proven Dynamic C® development system. The RCM3400
module is priced as low as $39 (qty. 1000), with complete development
kits priced at $399.
Winning products were announced at EDN's black-tie Innovation/Innovator
Awards Dinner on April 22 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in San Francisco and
will appear in the May issue of EDN and on EDN Access.
The premier design magazine of the electronics industry, EDN is published
by Reed Business Information. Headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts,
EDN serves the vital information needs of design engineers and engineering
managers worldwide.
